Course Description:
This course consists of 2 modules. It gives insight into the conduct of the bridge team in pilotage waters; this must be viewed in conjunction with your SMS, company navigational procedures, and checklists. Created from real-life dialogues between the bridge team and the pilot, you will get an insight into the preparation, both arrival port and departure port, with the pilot on board.
The module explains the preparation prior to pilot boarding and the Master pilot exchange procedures. Also, if the pilot decides to amend the route after getting updates from the VTS, the ship’s passage plan must be amended and recorded accordingly. This also serves as a reminder to ensure the various checklists, the log book and the movement book are correctly filled, as these will most likely be checked by various inspectors and auditors.
